The Focus
Bringing information about Germany’s educational landscape to you!
Whether you are a student searching for information about higher studies in Germany, a researcher searching for scholarships and research opportunities or an educational institution in search of a right German co-operation partner, the marketing and communication team brings all this information to you via various platforms and formats! This task, at the DAAD Regional Office New Delhi, is supported by the Information Centres in Bangalore, Chennai and Pune in India, Information Centre Dhaka in Bangladesh and Information Centre Colombo in Sri Lanka.
Events & Networks
The events are spread all over the region through onsite as well as online activities focusing on those who want to study further.
These include
- Information sessions about higher education in Germany at DAAD offices and educational institutions in the region covering India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka
- Study in Germany sessions for Bachelor, Master and PhD studies
- Online information sessions with German universities introducing their study programmes to students
- Experience sharing by DAAD Young Ambassadors where they talk about how they went about selection of the study programme, managed the application formalities, got used to life in Germany and are progressing further
- Panel discussions with DAAD Research Ambassadors focusing on various subject fields, upcoming focus areas etc.
- PhD Proposal Writing Workshops for students planning to pursue PhD
- Pre-Departure meets and sessions for students who have got admission to a German university

These sessions/events take place as onsite activities in the cities with DAAD offices i.e. Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi and Pune in India, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Colombo in Sri Lanka besides the education institutions in the five countries for which the DAAD is responsible. They are also conducted online i.e. in the form of web sessions/events.
To add value to these actions the DAAD has the special networks of Young Ambassadors (the duration of Young Ambassadorship is one year) and Research Ambassadors (the duration of Research Ambassadorship is three years). Accordingly, the YA and RA programmes are announced every year/every three years and applications are invited. These networks are mentored and managed by the Marketing and Communication team.
